Reimagining "Rosemary" by Deftones.

School project, 2025.
Audio-reactive visuals inspired by the atmosphere of Deftones' song "Rosemary". Made in Notch.

The Concept.

"Rosemary" is an exploration. It translates sound into image, exploring what a fragment of the piece would look like if it could be experienced visually and not just through the ear.
The visuals consist of particle systems, affected by 3 main layers: Vocals, Bass and Instrumental Layer (which groups together guitars, drums and other melodic and rhythmic elements). Each of them controls different visual aspects within the work.
A cold palette is used to convey its slow and ethereal atmosphere. Likewise, the particles serve as a dynamic tool to represent changes of movement that persist throughout the song.

The journey in 3 parts:

We should talk!
Would love to hear from you.

We should talk!
Would love to hear from you.

The particles come to life with an expansive movement, following the flow and rhythm of the song.
With the entrance of the bass, they gain color and glow.

When the vocals enter, the particles disperse and flow.
They then begin to compress, in anticipation of the impact.

The electric guitar erupts and shatters the calm. The particles, like the song itself, break apart. Chaos begins.
